FAQ of UKL3 course (please click the video, or check the word version below)

Q: What is Ofqual?

A: The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) is a non-ministerial government department in England for regulating qualification and examination. In the pet grooming industry in the UK, only City & Guilds, Open College Network West Midlands (OCNWM) and our co-operated iPET Network can give the pet groomer certificates qualified and registered by Ofqual for students. You can check whether the certificate course is qualified or not under Ofqual through the website of Ofqual: http://www.thegroomersspotlight.com/members?homepage=member

Q: Could you briefly talk about the course contents of iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management (Ofqual)?

A: iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management (Ofqual) can be separated into two parts studying in HK and UK. In the HK part given by our academy, there is a Class C content with 40 lessons (8 lessons for bathing and drying, the other lessons for trimming different dog breeds with different hair quality, and 1 lesson for examination). For the UK part, the HK Class C course must be studied and examined first, especially for the beginner in the pet grooming industry. During the HK Class C pet groomer certificate part, the lecturer of iPET Network will monitor and follow the progress of students. After gaining a HK Class C pet groomer certificate, there is no examination for iPET Network in the UK part. While students need to perform the whole trimming processes by the checking of iPET Network lecturer. Also, assessments and teaching materials will be given for students to study continuously. For the assessments and teaching materials, 20 different dog breeds with different hair quality and styles will be teached by iPET Network.

Notice that for this iPET Network Level 3 Diploma, students from our academy or other academies, our IPGA Class C pet groomer certificate must be examined first before learning the UK part provided by iPET Network. Apart from these course contents and rules, not only IPGA Class C pet groomer certificate will be gained after the HK part, but also certificate and crystal trophy with your name will be gained after finishing iPET Network in the UK part.

Q: Could I be a pet groomer in the UK although my English is not very good?

A: You can use the basic and simpler English to communicate with your customers. If you lack confidence in your English communication level, photos of different dog breeds and pet styles can be used as one of the communication tools between you and your customers. The most important thing is that you should ask about the requirements of your customer clearly, like how short do they want? They just want to trim a bit or cut to a shorter style by using the clipper? These kinds of questions about the requirements of your customers should be asked clearly for providing a happy and satisfied pet grooming service for them.

Q: If I want to work from home, will I complain?

A: Different local governments have their city council with different rules. Some may be free of their council tax/have the permission to set up a studio at your home or not. Also, the types of your house (apartment/house) can influence whether it is allowed to set up a studio at your home or not. Despite having any appointments or not, you should ask and apply for approval first from your local government. Indeed, you can also ask the opinions of your neighbors about it, if you live in a house and with the approval recognized by the local government.

Q: Do I need to pay the tax in the UK?

A: If your own revenue exceeds the boundary of $12500 pound, you need to pay the corresponding tax. If you operate your own company, other aspects of taxes are needed to pay. The detailed information of the tax in the UK will be introduced in the course.

Q: Do I need to know the law of the UK well in order to run a business in the UK? Could I be a part-time pet groomer in the United Kingdom? Is that the quality of life in England better?

QIs that FCI pet groomer certificate qualified in the UK?

A: Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI) is the international federation of national kennel clubs. However, as the law of the UK and the pet groomer certificates qualified by Ofqual, only City & Guilds, OCNWM and iPET Network are qualified and registered to give the qualified pet groomer certificates.

QWhat is the difference between pet groomer certificates in Asia and the UK?

A: For being a pet groomer in the UK, people who have either a pet groomer certificate of City & Guilds, Open College Network West Midlands (OCNWM), or our co-operated iPET Network are more recognizable in the UK especially. While the certificates gained from Asia are more recognizable in Asia.
